Bubbles – They’re Tricky
With a Mix Master whirring and a whisk twirling, I struggled to create bubbles for my bubble sessions. Then, a client offered her solution; it was a brilliant approach! With no effort, big, fluffy bubbles appeared in seconds from just a little soap. It felt like magic, and it was so much fun!
Our champagne glass prop is perfect for adding even more bubbles to the mix. There’s something magical about being in a bubble bath, surrounded by floating bubbles. The bubbles from our commercial bubble machines added to the “bubbly” atmosphere.
Like in the movies, we scoop up handfuls of bubbles to “dress” our clients. They’re so light and bouncy that it’s hard not to laugh as we carefully place them.
The best part? We don’t need a tub full of water to achieve this effect. No wrinkly skin from long soaks or water to constantly reheat. With just a quarter to half an inch of bubble-infused water, we’re ready to go.
But beware—everything gets slippery! No matter how much we try to contain it, soap is everywhere. Once, we had three bubble sets in the studio: a champagne glass set, a sleek black set with a black plexiglass floor, and a Western-style tub set. Everyone moved so carefully!
I had bought two mechanical bubble machines, with their blower they pumped out floating bubbles in record time. We used to have one of those party bubble makers for kids. You know the type, dip the flimsy plastic thingy into the bubble soap, bring it out and blow,
You can see with my image of the woman in the pink corset how many you get to work with that way. Along with the bubble machine, we pickup up bubble guns. There is a joy to shooting bubbles in the air, very satisfying.
The black set was especially challenging, with big, soapy bubbles splashing down from our two bubble machines. This is such a fresh fun take on boudoir and nude photographs in Calgary. After several takes, the black reflective plexiglass was so slick. It took two hours to clean, but the stunning images and the fun we had made it all worthwhile.
What do you think? Does this look like fun to you?
